Our pets are our family and knowing "when" is one of the most difficult decisions we have to face.
We like to focus on quality of life when discussing end-of-life. A few things you can bear in mind are:
Most people seem to just know, trust your instincts and as long as you are considering your pet's well-being, you will make the right decision for the both of you. You can always discuss the euthanasia process with your veterinarian, so you know what to expect before making the decision.
- Does your pet still enjoy doing activities they used to do?
- Does your pet still enjoy eating?
- What is your personal bottom line - what can you tolerate both financially and emotionally?

The Process
When you have come to a decision, you and your family members may or may not want to stay for the process. We support any decision you make, there is no right or wrong choice. You can always change your mind as well, we are here for you and will accommodate your wishes whenever possible.
When you arrive we will bring you to a room, have you sign the necessary documents and discuss your options for aftercare. You may choose a home burial, depending on local by-laws, or cremation. Any of our staff can discuss the options with you as well as any additional memorial products available through the company we work with. You can stay in the room with your pet as long as you need to say goodbye. Your pet will be treated with respect as they are prepared for cremation or placed in a box for home burial. |
The company that we work with for cremations and memorial products is Gateway Pet Memorial.
You can create an online memorial for your pet through them as well as tour one of their cemeteries.
See all that they have to offer on their website.
